SYN Flood Attacks - 2008-03-23
During the last days we had many downtimes. The reasons of these downtimes are that our server is target of TCP SYN flood attacks. A SYN flood attack is a denial of service DoS attack that consumes all the resources on your machine, forcing you to reboot. To protect against SYN flood attacks we have implemented the SYN cookies technique which disposes our server not to save any information about half-open TCP connections and prevents memory allocation to fully overload.

We had some problems resolving domain names with our server. But we have fixed the problems and hope you will enjoy surfing again.
SSL available - 2008-01-23
We did it! SSL is available for everyone who likes his traffic encrypted. Our authority is CAcert.org.

We had great issues with the proxy app regarding performance and entering some websites. We had to roll out a new version. We are now better than before with great performance!

We plan to implement HTTPS for surfing. We are just discordant about how to fund this service.

We added another 10Mbit to our backbone.

Due to routing problems we had limited reachability. Routing seems to be fine again.
